Discover The Zeitz MOCAA - Cape Town’s Contemporary Art Gem

The Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa) opened on September 22, 2017 in Cape Town’s world famous V&A Waterfront. The museum building was constructed from a historic Grain Silo, originally built in 1921. The top of the building operates as The Silo Hotel, which also opened its doors in 2017.

This is the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world and was built as a public / private partnership between the V&A Waterfront and German businessman Jochen Zeitz. The museum’s galleries feature rotating temporary exhibitions and a permanent collection.

‘Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is a public, not-for-profit institution that exhibits, collects, preserves and researches contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora; conceives and hosts international exhibitions; develops supporting educational, discursive and enrichment programmes; encourages intercultural understanding; and strives for access for all.’

We highly recommend their audio tour option. The Zeitz MOCAA offers free access for all locals on Wednesdays between 10 am and 1 pm, and also during your birthday month. Under 18s get free entry on presentation of an ID.
